Condition.2015 proceedings

It took us while, but finally we have it – CONDITION.2015 proceedings are available online!

31 articles written by 62 authors on 172 pages concerning topics of conservation, especially objects of organic origin (wood, rope, leather) and objects made of different metals, as well as digitization including use of digital technology, in documentation, research and dissemination.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the release of this publication, especially the authors and the publishing house. Very special thanks go to Katarzyna for her commitment and persistence which made it all happen.

First impressions after Condition.2015

After four days of exciting and inspiring deliberations, Condition.2015 Conservation and Digitalization Conference came to an end.

The organizers would like to thank the participants for their participation in the conference, speakers, for all their efforts in preparing the materials and their presentation, the moderators and the Program Committee of the conference for their contribution to its preparation and conduct.

37 Speakers from 8 countries presented their speeches at the conference, which were in total 740 minutes long. Additional 220 minutes were devoted to discussions after the presentations. Discussions in the lobbies (coffee breaks, lunches, dinners) at least balanced the total time of the presentations and accompanying questions. Adopted division of time provided the conditions for the participants to share experiences and achievements among professionals of their field in a formal and an informal discussions.

Quite a challenge – story of digitizing Medieval Crane Gate in Gdansk at Condition.2015

Following the overview of 3d digitization project of fishing boats we continue to present projects which will be discussed during Condition.2015 Conservation and Digitization Conference in May. This article presents a short overview of one of the most challenging 3D projects National Maritime Museum in Gdansk ever participated in – 3D inventory of medieval “Crane Gate” in Gdanks.

Jakub Góralski, former member of ZAPP Architects team will discuss technical and theoretical aspects of the task during the first day of digitization part of Condition.2015 conference (21 May, 15:00-15:20, you can view the conference programme here).

For the taste of things to come – 3D digitization of fishing boats at Condition.2015

As we are getting closer and closer to the Condition.2015 Conservation and Digitization Conference, we would like to give you an overview of some projects which will be discussed in May.

We start with two projects of National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, this week – 3D digitization of folk fishing boats and next week – documentation of Gdańsk Crane.

In 2014 National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk carried out a project funded by Polish Government Programme Kultura+, priority digitization.

Scottish Ten at Condition.2015 confirmed!

Scottish Ten Project Manager Dr Lyn Wilson will present the cutting edge project at Condition.2015.

Dr Lyn Wilson will give a 40 minutes key presentation titled “Global Approaches to Digital Documentation” at Thursday evening 21 May (at the end of the first day of digitization part of the conference).

Seminar on 3D technology in collections documentation

First seminar within project “Digitization – bilateral exchange of good practices between UiO: Museum of Cultural History and National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk” took place during 13-17 October 2014 in Oslo.The project is implemented within Bilateral Cooperation Fund – part “b” for program “Conservation and revitalization of cultural heritage” within European Economic Area 2009-2014 and Norwegian Funds 2009-2014.
