UiO: Museum of Cultural History

Museum of Cultural History is a part of the University of Oslo (UiO: Kulturhistorisk museum) and is one of most important cultural institution in Norway and holds the largest archeological, etnographic and coin collections. Since the beginning of the 90′s of the 20th century Museum of Cultural History participates in a national cooperation to create shared database of universities’ museums. It is also the administrator and the main supplier of the content for an online catalogue functioning as a part of web portal Universitetsmuseenes Samlingportaler www.unimus.no.

 

Cooperation and conference

Cooperation of partner institutions with the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk is based on exchange of experience and good practices in regards to conservation of archaeological objects extracted from wet environment. These works are also supported by the Norwegian Maritime Museum. As a part of joined activities, the institutions will organize Condition.2015 conference devoted to conservation and digitization of museum collections which will be held in Gdansk in 2015.
