Protection of cultural heritage is associated with numerous challenges that we professionals strive to meet, achieving expected results within given budgets. Regardless of the place of work, we share the same needs, problems and visions – we want to preserve heritage for numerous future generations. At the same time, we realize that we still have too few opportunities to share experiences and achievements among professionals of our field. That is why we have decided to organize Condition.2015 conference.
Bearing in mind that properly managed conservation must include a properly made documentation, we have decided to link both fields. It has a symbolic meaning, as currently being built Shipwreck Conservation Centre with Studio Warehouse in Tczew is dedicated to conservation, and will be accompanied by digitization for the purposes of documentation, monitoring changes and dissemination.
For the first time in Poland, specialists of both fields of the Polish, Norwegian and other European countries will meet on a single (although divided to two parts) conference on conservation and digitization, to share both scientific achievements and good practices. We want the conference Condition.2015 to become a forum for the exchange of knowledge, and to be professionally inspiring for each of its participants. Moreover, we hope that the conference will integrate professionals from Europe and initiate regular meetings on the discussed topics.
Both in conservation and in digitization, the method determines significantly the outcome. In the context of a conference, there is no time to discuss each possible method for any type of case. For this reason, the thematic scope has been deliberately narrowed down to specific issues in order to provide benefit to the participants of the conference, who struggle on a daily basis with the challenges that are the subject of the meeting.
It is worth to participate in Condition.2015, as taking part in the conference on conservation you will have a chance to learn about the latest developments in the field of conservation of archaeological objects excavated from the wet environment as well as to establish cooperation with conservators of the leading centres of conservation in Europe. While in the part dedicated to the digitization, you will have the opportunity to learn and share good practices in digitization of large objects. In both cases, the gained knowledge will help you choose methods to the existing capabilities and needs.
